Good bye...

Mr. Hair Towel!

Thats right, I'm saying good bye to a towel I use to put my hair up after I shower. My mom has been trying for years to get me to throw it away. She thinks it is gross looking, I on the other hand think it is the perfect towel to use to get excess water out of wet hair. While I was packing for our Utah trip, I thought long and hard about whether or not to pack it. I opted not to pack it, and went to Bed Bath and Beyond to find an actual hair turbin thing. Not as good as my trusty blue towel, but it works.

Some of my favorite things...

I love watching tv. The shows I enjoy the most are:

CSI: NY -- why I like this show is beyond me because it can be get pretty morbid at times.
NCIS -- that Abbey is hilarious! Thanks to my dad, I got addicted to this show, now Josh is addicted.
Jon & Kate plus 8 -- somtimes I watch it and apologize the whole time to Josh because I feel like I am a "Kate" and always nagging about something.
18 Kids & Counting -- have to agree with a friend on this one, as she put it, "there has to be something wrong with this family. No family is that perfect" I think that was the phrase she used. :)
Greys Anatomy -- don't judge me please!
Private Practice -- really don't judge me on this one!

Ferrero Rocher Hazelnut Chocolates. Don't get me wrong, I love anything chocolate, but these are my favs.


Daisy Flowers -- Simple but elegant.


Temples -- While in Utah last week, we went to the Draper Temple Open House and the Manti Temple. Both are equally beautiful in there own way. I'm extremly proud of this pic of the Manti Temple. I took the picture myself and it actually turned out pretty decent.



The Ocean, Mountains and Snow -- There is something peaceful and pretty about all three!



Sea World -- Yes, at the age of 25 and 27 I went to Sea World and enjoyed it just as much as I did as a young girl! My life long dream, besides getting married and having children, is to swim with the dolphins. Josh and I went to Sea World in San Diego for our honeymoon.



Scrapbooking -- I am one of those people!

Babies -- I have always loved them. Can't wait till I have my own one day. For the time being I get my fix through a neice, a couple nephrews and a friend that allows me steal her baby during Relief Society every Sunday. I had to borrow a few pics from my friends blogs, hope you girls don't mind. :)

Family -- Life wouldn't be complete without our Families, no matter how crazy they are.

Just a few thoughts

When your hut's on fire

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, "God! How could you do this to me?" Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.

The Moral of This Story:

It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

Finally...

So I am FINALLY getting into the hype over the books Twilight!
My boss read all the books within 2 weeks. She couldn't put it down. I figured since she read them that fast, I would give it a shot. So I borrowed the books from my friend Jenn. I just started reading the first the other day and I can't seem to put it down. Very intriguing story. We were simi slow today at work so I was able to read more. I was finding myself getting alittle upset when a customer walked in the bank and I had to be the one to help them. Couldn't they see I was very busy reading my book? :)

A Favorite Song

I was watching The Ellen DeGeneres show a few months ago and Beyonce was on. She sang a song that I just fell in love with. I was being a little brat (ok maybe moody) for whatever reason. I'm a girl, so I don't really need a reason, right? :) When I heard this song I just started laughing because poor Josh has to put up with alot from me. It's called Flaws and All. *Warning: The song does have a swear word, but it's the truth. :)

Thanksgiving

My family had a very nice and quiet Thanksgiving (except for my Roll disaster, see previous post). We have so much to be thankful for.

New Additions:

The Martin Family got a new addition to the family, Kirra Ann was born to Jeff and Laurie. SHe was born a week before Thanksgiving. She is such a cutie. We can't wait to get our hands on her. My brother Jeff (Kirra's daddy) was able to call us from Iraq on Thanksgiving. He sounds great and is a proud daddy. So my parents are officially Grandparents, and they couldn't be happier.

The Norman Family got a new addition to the family, Benjamin Vaughn was born to Tory and Maria in July. We were able to visit Josh's family in August for Ben's blessing. They live in Provo, UT. I'm glad we were able to be there. Ben was my little buddy while we were visiting. I had to get in all the time I could because he may not recognize me the next time we see him (hopefully in March). He too is a little cutie. Josh's parents became Grandparents for the first time too, and are very happy!

Guitar Hero:

My sister Julie bought Guitar Hero as her Graduation gift to herself. So we played alittle. It is fun to play, even if your not good (like me). My sister is awesome. Josh is pretty good too. He played for an hour straight. I can barely make it through 1 song.

Poker Fun:

The Martin Family has adapted a Thanksgiving tradition that the Norman Family does. They play poker, much to Dad Norman's dismay. So a few weeks before Thanksgiving, we would play Texas Hold'em. The guys were nice enough to teach us girls. It took me a few weeks to FINALLY get the game (but I am still learning). I'm such a slow learner with stuff like that. We don't play for money or anything, we use the cheap set of Walmart poker chips. Even Betsy the dog played. I don't have any pics of Jared, he was still in Idaho. But he was with us in spirit.

We are thankful for our families and friends. We love you all!!

And the Thanksgiving Dummy award goes to.....

JENN!!! I had only 2 things to prepare for Thanksgiving today and I ruined 1 of them. I was put in charge of rolls and my famous chocolate pie. I had some rolls, but couldn't find more so I got Rhodes bread loafs. I got up early this morning to start the rising of the rolls and bread. I was going to put the loafs in the oven with boiling hot water to make the rising go quicker. So I get the loafs ready, oven is warming, I turn on the stove to heat my water and turn to do the dishes. After a few minutes I started smelling burning and figured I just spilt something in the oven and it was burning off. The smell got worse, so I turned on our cool little febreeze air thing to make the house smell Fallish. I was done with dishes and was going to put the bread and water in oven. When I turned I saw that I turned on the wrong burner and was not heating the water, I was heating the bread in my glass dish (which is my favorite because it was our brownie dish). Seeing that the dish is REALLY HOT, I get oven mitts but the glass is sticking to the stove. I get Josh in there and he finally gets it to move. I was afraid the glass would break because of the extreme hotness (is that a word?) anyways, Josh no sooner got it to the other side of the stove when KABOOM!! Glass was everywhere! It sounded like a bomb went off! Luckily Josh had on his glasses and I throw a dish towel over my eyes, because if we hadn't I'm sure we would have gotten glass in the eyes! I took pictures of the aftermath, but you can't really see the glass on the stove or counter. So, we had to throw the rolls and bread loafs out because when the dish broke, pieces went into the other dishes and I don't want to eat rolls or bread with a glass piece in it. So, Josh being my hero, ran to HEB and found some other type of roll that we can have today. No rising required, just a quick warm up in the oven!

The bread loafs after we threw them outside to "cool" off. A huge piece of glass had stuck to the bread.

Atleast my pie turned out this year! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
